Dr. Phuong is one of few Orthodontists with experience in Multidisciplinary Orthodontic Treatment and a focus on Early Preventative Orthodontics. Her background stems from her advanced educational training and extensive experience in a private practice setting. She is experienced in the latest techniques and technologies and has vast experience in utilizing 3D technology when treatment planning and assessing airway as part of a comprehensive neuromuscular assessment. She has been trained in utilizing the In-Ovation Self-ligation, Damon Self-ligation, GAC MTM lingual braces, Temporary Anchorage Devices (TADs), Invisalign and Invisalign Teen systems to obtain true functional bites.
Originally from Kitchener, Ontario she completed her Bachelor of Medical Science and her Doctor of Dental Surgery degrees at Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Western Ontario where she graduated in the top of her class with distinction.
After her dental training she practiced as a general dentist in Calgary, Alberta for several years. During this time she discovered her passion for creating beautiful, functional smiles which led her to continue her education at the University of Alberta for an additional 3 years of full-time specialty training, obtaining her Master Science in Orthodontics.
Dr. Phuong has received a number of academic accolades such as the UWO Dental Alumni Society Student Award and a publication in the journal of Sleep Medicine Reviews. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada and is an active member of the Ontario Association of Orthodontists, Canadian Association of Orthodontists, and the American Association of Orthodontists.
When Dr. Phuong is not practicing Orthodontics she spends her time taking numerous continuing education courses in the areas of Light-Wire Orthodontics, Early Preventative Treatment, Functional Orthodontics, Sleep-Disorders and Neuromuscular Dentistry.
